WE DON’T HAVE STANDARD FOR LEADERSHIP—Bishop Odusoga.

WE DON’T HAVE STANDARD FOR LEADERSHIP—Bishop Odusoga.
By Olusegun Adeyemi HOSEA. -25 Sept,2022.
The Pastor in charge of the Heritage Assembly Church International, Akure, Bishop Olugbenga Odusoga in an exclusive interview with the Exponent Magazine News has this to say on the subject of building capacity for exploit in our country for the purpose of having a good governance that will bring succour to all the citizens in our dear country. The Man of God, who said that our elective leaders do not have spiritual capacity that could take us to a promise Land . He believed that we don’t have a standard for leadership in our country.
QS: Talk to us about building capacity for exploit , how would this affect our political leaders that are in the position of Authorities?
ANS: Our elective leaders do not have capacity for exploit. They do not have capacity at all. They don’t have spiritual capacity at all. We understand that the US we try to copy, have some standards for their leaders even to the level of marital standard . The Spiritual leader was of the opinion that a good leader should not have more than one wife. He went further to say that we don’t have standard for leadership and that is why we are in a mess. People that have no capacity are in position of Authorities. If you don’t have capacity and you gain a position of Authorities you will abuse it and that is why you see alot of abuses

This Country is well endowed by God and there is no reason why we should even beg for anything anywhere.

We have vegetation, we have the land , we have good weather, rain comes at it’s own time, Sun comes at its own time, we have dry and raining seasons, we have Human resources e.t.c
The leader too do not want people to build capacity. That is why they are not educating people because if you don’t develop the intelllectual capacity of your people, there is no way they will rise up to their rights. We have to first of all build the intellectual capacity of people through education. Give education to all. Let people have access to education .

Education should be cheap to access . It should not be so difficult and that is what Obafemi Awolowo did.

That is why we are even clamouring for resource control and we should go back to regional system of governance that will give room for healthy competition among the regions. Regional governance has helped us, we should use what has helped us before. What we are currently practicing has not helped us and cannot help us . So we should go back to what we have practiced before that has helped us. Regional system has helped us. i.e true Federalism has helped us and let us go back to it. Each region should manage it’s own resources and send a percentage to the central government. The remaining should be used to develop their own regions . That is how it should be and that is what assisted the development we had that time . But we don’t have it now. In fact, we have gone far from it. In 1983, naira was stronger than Dollar. And Dollar was 90kobo and Pound was 1.2 naira just in 1983 down there. But now it is 710 naira to a Dollar. We need to really work on our selves this coming 2023 . We have to carried out alot of campaigns  to ensure that those people that have the power to change what we have now come to power..
QS: What is your take On Muslim-Muslim joint Ticket of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alhaji Shettima?
ANS:. My view is a little bit different. The problem we have actually is that people are just using Religion to propel it . Actually,  religion is not our problem. We have been co-existing together for long. I came from the family where we have Muslims and Christians and we don’t have problem. You are free to practice your Religion and I think that should not be a problem and some people are just using it to polarize us and it shouldn’t be. What we should be looking for is integrity and competence . That is what we should be looking for. I am not propagating anything for anybody and I am not promoting any party but what we should be looking for is not where we come from your Tribe and your Religion does not count here. I went to a school where we have Christians and Muslims and we studied together and we are still friends till tomorrow. So why should that be a yardstick for who comes to power ? To me that is irrelevant but some people are using that as a yardstick but in my own position what we should be looking for is integrity, competence and a kind of people that we know that can do the work and it doesn’t have to be in a particular party.
We should search for the right kind of people. A party may not give us the right kind of person we are looking for. We should vote for personality and not the party. We should let people understand this. Let people come out with their manifestoes . Let know their antecedent .Let people know what they have done and what the people see them doing in the Communities. That should be the yardstick for whom to vote for.
