HON. ASIWAJU ADEGBOYEGA ADEFARATI PRESENTS A MOTION ON THE DUALIZATION OF AKUNGBA-IKARE ROAD AND DOWNGRADING OF AKUNGBA (OKERIGBO) HILL
At the plenary of the House of Representatives today, the Member representing the good people of Akoko South/East and South/West Federal Constituency, Asiwaju Adegboyega Adefarati, presented a motion which he titled, “Need for urgent Dualization of Akungba-Ikare Federal Road (6KM) and the Downgrading of Akungba (Okerigbo) Hill to Avert further Carnage on the Road in Akoko South/East and South/West Federal Constituency, Ondo State”.
At the border of Akungba with Ikare-Akoko, there is a dangerous and dreadful hill called Okerigbo which makes the slope sharp and bent for the road users to navigate and often causes brake failure for the vehicles plying the road. As such, this has caused huge carnage and destruction of properties worth billions of naira.
As a busy and bustling hub for students, traders, and community settlers, there is an urgent need for the government to prioritize the dualization of the road leading to Akungba (Akungba-Ikare Road) and downgrading of Okerigbo hill to prevent future carnage and destruction of properties that often put Akungba on the front pages of daily news papers. The dualization of the road and downgrading of Okerigbo hill are not only inevitable but also essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of all commuters and dwellers in the area.
At the end, the House resolved that the Project (The Dualization of Akungba-Ikare Road and Downgrading of Okerigbo Hill) should be captured by the Federal Ministry of Works in 2025 Appropriation/Budget.
