The following is attributable to Acting Spokesperson Shejal Pulivarti:

On May 30, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with UK Deputy Foreign Secretary Andrew Mitchell to discuss shared priorities around humanitarian efforts in Africa, including Sudan and Ethiopia. Administrator Power and Foreign Secretary Mitchell discussed the importance of continued support for the humanitarian response in Ethiopia, noting the staggering humanitarian needs and the recent Ethiopia high level pledging conference where the United States pledged nearly $154 million in additional humanitarian assistance. Administrator Power also highlighted USAID’s partnerships with civil society and local organizations – including local emergency responders in Sudan – as critical to supporting individuals and communities impacted by the conflicts.
