June 12 -Democracy Day

Theme : The state of Democracy in Nigeria: Issues , challenges and the way forward.

The Guest speaker Senator Surajudeen Abiola Bashiru spoke extensively on the theme touching all the aspects of the government and demonstrated some insights and expository into the topics on how the democracy was fought for during the military juncta and the efforts of retaining it.

The speaker appreciated the free, fair and credible election won by the MKO Abiola in the 1993  election which was latter annulled by the Military Administrator Major General Ibrahim Babangida.

The speaker advocated for the local government autonomy and asked the state government to support the cause of local government autonomy for the basic development of our society. He also talked about the challenges facing the Democracy in our country like corruption, lack of credible election and electoral violence and host of others.

He Admonished the media practitioners to do away with fake news and ensure that they get their Sources of information from the credible sources rather than relying or getting information from the social media as this is dangerous to the credibility of the media organizations.
