*Abuja, FCT | Saturday, July 27, 2024* – The House of Representatives is deeply saddened by the shocking demise of Senator (Dr) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, CON, the Distinguished Lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream).

Senator Ubah, renowned for his boundless energy, patriotism, enterprise, philanthropy, and vision, passed away in the United Kingdom at the age of 52.

His remarkable journey from humble beginnings to prominence is a testament to his hard work and perseverance. He showcased exceptional business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit, as his diverse career spanned numerous fields.

Dr. Ubah was a two-time Senator and a two-time Governorship candidate in Anambra State with an unwavering commitment to effect positive change in his home state. This was evident in Senator Ubah’s political and philanthropic efforts driven by his ‘think home’ philosophy.

His impact extended to sports, and security, with notable efforts including donations to combat insecurity in his state and contributions to the development of domestic football.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, in a condolence message, described his demise as a great loss to the Southeast region and Nigeria.

“As a Senator and Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources, Downstream, he made invaluable contributions to the parliament through his legislative activities, delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents while serving our country with dedication,” he stated.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, has expressed shock over the sad event.

The Speaker also noted that the dedicated lawmaker was one of the pillars of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East geopolitical zone, recalling how he celebrated the recent assent to the bill establishing the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

The Green Chamber extends heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Uchenna Ubah, his family, loved ones, constituents, the people and government of Anambra State, and all members of the 10th National Assembly during this difficult time. Senator Ubah’s legacy of dedication to knowledge, entrepreneurship, and community service leaves an enduring mark on society.

May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant comfort to his grieving loved ones.
