Ondo: Akure Deserted For Fear Of Protests
By Olusegun HOSEA, 1st August,2024.
The fear of protests is a beginning of wisdom. The phobia of the planned protest has made most of the workers and other businesses men and women stayed away from the city as most of the places visited in the Akure metropolitan were deserted due to the fear of protests that was supposed to begin today 1st August till 10th August, 2024. A visit to most of the Ministries by our correspondent shows that some workers were seeing in their offices most especially the senior officers from G. level 14 and above as most of the ministries corridors were empty as seen in the ministry of Education, Health and Finance were empty.
Although, there was no protests in the city of Akure the state capital but most of the security personnel were at strategic location to combat any emergency that may want to surface. Banks in the city were under lock and key why motorists were not moving as much as it ought to be . The popular governor road to Oba Adesida road that were ever busy area suddenly became a ghost of itself due to the fear of protest. Motor were not moving. The NEPA round about is empty but one person was said to have been beatened by some Okada riders because he wanted to protest why heavy security personnel were seen at the governor office. Even though the workers that supposed to resumed work at 8:am were not forth coming as at 10:45am as at the time of filling this reports.
In another development, there was protests in Abuja as people were seen on the street . Journalists are being molested by the security Agencies as they were seen shooting tear gas to dispatched the protesters  while they are asking government to reduced the price of fuel and other commodities. Items should  come down.

In Enugu, there was no protest, in Port harcourt, there was protests and it was raining but there was heavy security personnel on ground to ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order . In Lagos too, protesters were gathered at the ojota and the security were on ground to combat emergency in case there was break down of law. The people are complaining of the current inflation and the increase in the transport fair. They were asking for decentralization of power to the state government.
In Kano, reports reaching us says that there was protests going on in Kano and there was gun short as some protesters were trying to enter the governor office. They were seen displaying placards carrying different inscriptions to convey their messages of displeasure against bad governance. The protesters were seen matching from different parts of the state towards the state road down to government house. The demands of the protesters are reduce price of petroleum, combat insecurity and hunger , total electoral reforms, close all IDP camps and resetled the campers, release all the #EndSARS protesters in the detention and host of others.
