Statement on school bombings in Sudan

Announcements –

Writing on a school blackboard in Sudan.

GPE strongly condemns the bombings that hit a school for girls in Kordofan state on Wednesday and a learning center operated by UNICEF in Khartoum state last Sunday. The attacks killed and injured children as they were learning.

These acts of violence against children are intolerable and must stop. Children should not live in the fear of violence and should never be targets under any circumstances.

GPE joins all partners calling for a stop to the violence in Sudan. We reiterate our call to keep schools safe to allow children to exercise their right to education.
