– We’re set for landslide victory, says campaign DG, Makinde

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday inaugurated the National Campaign Council of the party for the governorship election in Ondo State.

The inauguration ceremony held in Akure, the state capital, with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman and former Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, as Secretary.

The ceremony was attended by Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his Ekiti State counterpart, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, both of who are chairmen of sub-committees of the campaign council.

Speaking at the event, Ganduje said the National leadership of the APC will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to achieve an overwhelming victory in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

The former Kano State Governor charged members of the committee to put all their efforts into the campaign to make the party’s victory a smooth one.

Accepting the role as Chairman of the campaign council, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the people of Ondo State will vote massively for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on November 16.

Sanwo-Olu said; “When I saw the compendium of all Governor Aiyedatiwa has been doing, he’s doing and intends to do, I was impressed. This shows that he’s the best man for the job and we are presenting the best for the people of Ondo State.

“If you look at the composition of the National Campaign Council, you will see that our party is serious about winning the election and on behalf of the Council, I want to promise that we will run an issue-based campaign and there will be a free, fair and credible election in Ondo State on November 16.”

In his address, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging his leadership and vision, unifying the party and fostering a renewed sense of hope among its members.

“I thank Mr President for personally taking the driving wheels in the journey to this point. I thank him for his resilience, courage, compassion and integrity which have contributed in no small measure to the strength and prosperity of our party. What we are doing here today is a display of the strength of our will when we work together. It is the evidence of our capability which by God’s grace will produce victory on 16th November, 2024.

“We have focused on the needs of our people, and we are dedicated to making life more meaningful for them in the next four years when elected,” he asserted.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also honored the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the former governor, whose vision continues to inspire the current administration. He called for a moment of silence to pay respect to late Akeredolu, acknowledging his significant contributions to the development of the state.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements over the past ten months, the Governor pointed to the construction of over 70 kilometers of rural roads aimed at enhancing access to agricultural areas; job creation, including the recruitment of workers in critical sectors and plans to hire additional teachers to improve educational outcomes; enhanced healthcare delivery; boosting local businesses and driving community development.

“This inauguration is not just a formality; it’s a commitment to the people of Ondo State that we will continue to work tirelessly for their betterment,” the Governor declared, conveying optimism for the future of both the party and the state.

Earlier, in his welcome address, APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, declared that history has been made today, as many prominent figures from the opposition party have now joined the APC ahead of the election.

He referenced a similar campaign assignment given to Governor Sanwo-Olu, which resulted in a significant victory, expressing confidence that the party would achieve over 80 percent success in the coming election.

Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, APC National Vice Chairman (Southwest), stated that the electorate is eager and prepared to deliver votes, aiming for nothing less than 85 percent of total votes for the party in the election.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Committee and member of the House of Representatives, Hon Abiola Makinde, has said the APC is set for a landslide victory in the November 16 governorship election.

Speaking at the venue of the event, Hon. Makinde thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National leadership of the APC for their show of support for Governor Aiyedatiwa ahead of the election.

The lawmaker, who said the campaign of Governor Aiyedatiwa has been hugley successful so far, added that the quality of personalities in the national campaign council gives the Ondo State chapter of the APC confidence of a good showing in the election.
