Ondo Guber: Elections are peaceful everywhere. I saw very enthusiastic voters- Oke

By Exponent News. 16th November, 2024.

The former Governor Aspirants of All progressive party-APC Chief Olusola Oke who came to monitored election at Obe- Nla in ward 5 where HE Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa casted his vote said elections are peaceful everywhere as he saw a very enthusiastic voters casting their votes for their preferred candidates.

Details

I came around to monitor this election, which is my set for the purpose of this governorship election. Elections are peaceful everywhere. I saw very enthusiastic voters.

People are delighted, and understandably so.  It is an environment that has waited for opportunity to test development for a long time, and it has not been so.  An environment that produces the wealth of this nation, the wealth of this state, and yet has nothing to show for it.

Once, in 1976, when the state was created, we now have an opportunity of the leader of the state from this environment.  You can understand the joy of the people, and that’s why they are trooped out in their number, despite the difficult terrain, to come and cast their vote. The direction of this election is very well known in this environment, and I’m happy for them, because this time has been long-awaited for.

And now, it is in their hand, and they are joyful for it. What’s your chances of winning? I mean, your political party. What’s your chances of winning this election?  In overall, the result of this election is very visible, it’s well known.

The governorship candidate of APC will sweep the election, because, one, it’s a clean broom. I mean, a new broom that sweeps very clean.  Two, because he’s a young man, he stands between the old and the young.

Three, there’s no resistance, because there’s no credible opposition in those states. Four, he came from an environment where people have long been yearning for leadership of the state.  And there is understanding between the sub-ethnic groups in this area, the Kales, the Arobos, the Apoes, the Elages.

We have come, because we formally belong to the same division, and so we go in the same direction.  And once we deliver our votes here, it reverberates across the state.  And so, the result is known from the beginning, because we’ve gone through campaign.

We saw the crowd, we were trooping out. And now, I’ve gone round, because I belong to the monitoring unit.  I’ve gone and I saw what is happening, and so I can assure you that the governor will win clean.

Your message to residents of Ondo State, especially your people here in the river Rhine area?  Well, my message to the people of Ondo State is to sustain the mood of peace that is prevailing during this election.  To also be very, very hopeful. No doubt, this is a challenging period for Nigeria,  because the benefits of a number of the policies of the federal government are yet to come in.

And what a state government can do is to ameliorate, to reduce the pain of the people. And what I understand the governor is saying is that he will want to promote agriculture, which is the quick win you can have.  Already roads have been opened to the rural areas, so that people can sell their farmland.

And I understand the government is also going to provide high-yielding seedlings.  Government is also going to ensure security in the farming areas. So, if you do this, the Yoruba people will tell you that. So, the people are encouraged to be hopeful, to be confident, and to believe that at the end of this tunnel,  there’s surely going to be light. We’ll have a new Ondo State. We are people who can have their trips.
