*ONDO SUBEB, CHAIRMAN OLABIMTAN, COMMENDS GOVERNOR AKEREDOLU COMMITMENTS TO BASIC EDUCATION, DESCRIBING IT AS SECOND TO NONE*
Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has been commended for his commitment to sounds basic education in the State which has started to yield positive results judging by the performance of pupils in terminal examinations.
The Executive Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to his office in Akure by the management of Universal Learning Solution initiatives ULSI executor of Jolly Phonics Project.
Jolly Phonics Project is a special learning solution powered by Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC Headquarters in Abuja in all the 36 States in tbe country including Federal Capital Territory FCT
Olabimtan who said the State is second to none in the performance index in development of the education sector compared to other state opined that education as the pivot upon which other development initiatives revolves around adding that was why the Governor placed much premium on teaching and learning at the basic levels.
The Chairman maintained that Governor Akeredolu is education friendly and his administration has done a lot to put the sector especially basic education in good stead compare to other states in the federation.
According to him education is the bedrock of life. With good secondary education one is settled for life and can navigate to whatever endeavor or vocation one desire, break the circle of poverty and be independent for life.
The Chairman who recalled his struggle in life in order to be somebody today said he had a very tough childhood and with no father to lean on he had to trained himself singlehandedly and his other siblings by combining work and schollliing at the University of Lagos. Today it is now a story adding good thing does not comes so easy in life
While applauding the management of ULSI for the soundness of the learning project Jolly Phonics which he described as second to none judging by the positive impact it has on the teachers the pupils and the learning environment Rt Hon Olabimtan restated the Board commitment to continue to do business with the company.
Welcoming the team to the Board the Permanent Secretary Chief Dele Akinnagbe applauded the Governor for appointing Hon Olabimbitan as the Chairman of the Board considering his weight of experience as a professional teacher later school Principal before venturing into politics and his subsequent appointment as the Chairman of The State Teaching Service Commission TESCON before coming to SUBEB.
According to Akinnagbe the SUBEB Chairman was once the Speaker Ondo State House of Assembly and as a perfect gentleman he has seen it all.
He equally commended the ULSI and its Jolly Phonics Initiatives for a job well done in the State.
Speaking earlier, The Jolly Phonics Initiatives State Project Manager Mr Seyi Alake commended the support and commitment of the Board towards improving literacy in the State. He said the State ranks the best amongst all the States in the federation and called for more support.
He said their outfit has concluded plans to distributed it’s new technological innovation called Jolly Phonics Life Player at five components each to each 36 States in Nigeria including Federal Capital Territory before the end of the year promising that Ondo State will be the first to receive their own.
According to him Jolly Life Player is a solar powered educational learning solutions that can be used by pupils without reachers supervision.
At the meeting were the Director School Services Mr Balogun, Jolly Phonics Desk Officer Mrs Ogundare Olayinka and Jolly Phonics State Coordinator Mrs Dolapo Faturoti who came with his principal on the visit.
