LET OUR DECISIONS BE DRIVEN BY THE ETHICS OF PROFESSIONALISM —ENGR. Michael

The Charman of the Association of the Professional Bodies of Nigeria-APBN, Ondo State Chapter, Engineer Michael Adebusuyi Olorunfemi has said our decisions and other  things that we want to do, even within our political sectors should be driven by the ethics of Professionalism .

He said this during the association’s general meeting which was held in Akure, Ondo State of which the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations –NIPR ,hosted at their Secretariat, located in Alagbaka.

Engineer Michael, who had been the Chairman of the Association since February, 2021 for the past two years, said the

Government policies should be Professionally guided and politically pushed to be achieved. He said if the policies is politically constituted and not Professionally guided it might be on a politically platform of a Jamboree Project.

According to him, if Government policies is Professionally guided ,they would get values for their money. In his words ” Government policies should be Professionally guided and politically pushed to be achieved. If it’s Professionally guided you will get value for money and you will not be doing “Wield Elephant Project” The Chairman who believes that Professionalism should be the watchword of any decipline in our societies said that people loved to appreciate any kind of professional treatment in any profession.

According to him, if a Police man and a Medical Doctor carried out their duties in a professional manner, one would be forced to acknowledge the Professional conduct displayed by such an officers to their clients or customers.
Michael went further that, Professionalism drive the society and any community that lack this ethics of profession will lead to a chaos. He prayed for the concept to be respected at all levels and also, said that we should allowed it to guide our day- to -day activities.

In another development, Engineer Michael believes that there are a lots of professions that drives the economy and the development of the nation of which our children should be guided towards when choosing career in life.

He said courses like “Achitecture, Land Surveyor, Estate Surveyor and host of others that could put food on their tables and give them job satisfaction when they graduate from the University are been neglected.

He advised parents not to compelled their wards to become lawyer, Doctor , Engineer .e.tc at all costs because in most cases the interest of these children are not there and this would amount to a waste of time and years.

He said parents and children needs to know more about these areas and the value of those professions, ( like Architecture, Estate Surveyor e.t.c ) in the society.

He said they have to engaged them and enlightened them first before they can know more about all these professions . He said this could be done through media engagement and publicity as well as career talk.
Similarly, Engineer Michael, spoke extensively on the need for us to eradicate what we call “African Time” in Nigeria setting as this mentality is causing setback to the morale of people in time of attending any developmental event or programme in our Country.

He charges their members to always commend on the National issues and if possible, the APBN could make a recommendations that would be signed by them and forward same to the Government for it to become law.

He also called for the decentralization of the State General Hospital to some important location in the state for effective service delivery.
