Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo AKEREDOLU, SAN CON, has been celebrated by the great men and women of substance in the society during the book launch in his honour, titled Aketi: The courage To lead in Trying Times. Author by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan and presented to the public at the Dome in Akure, Ondo State Capital on the 24th March,2023. Under the Chairmanship of Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, OFR,CFR, Founder, University of Fortune, Igbotako. The book ex-rayed the courage,service and leadership of the Aketi who was described by the Author as a courageous and selfless leader that always fight for the people even at the expense of his own personal interest and comfort.
According to the Author, Governor AKEREDOLU was seen as a peace maker when Nigeria was battling with a renewed ethic agitations, which had become more pronounced in the South West with secessionists clamoring for the birth of a Yoruba nation. The agitation had turned violence in certain parts of the land and Governor Akeredolu felt the need to douse the tension by explaining why the people of Yoruba must remain part of a United Nigeria and make the country work for all Nigerians.
The two hundred and fifty eight (258) pages book with twenty one(21) chapters talked about the Biography of the Governor, his tenacity of leadership,the challenge of the governance, the NBA legacy, restructuring debate, Owo Massacre, party, politics, power shift, Herdsmen challenge or crisis and how he took firm decision in establishing the Amotekun Security to take up the matter of the insecurity in the state.Other areas covered by the book include the economy benefit of the carnabes in boosting the revenue generation to the State.
In another development, the Minister of State For Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye , appreciated all the dignitories that came to the book launch. According to him, he said Governor Akeredolu exhibited unparallel leadership over the years and that he was an instrumental to the power shift to the South West.
While appreciating his Excellency for the establishment of the Amotekun Corp, he also commended the Author for writing the book on the courage of the Governor in leading his people during the trying times.
In the words of the Guest Speaker, Abiodun Abayomi, Governor of EKITI State who was represented by the SSG of the State, Alhaja Abibat Adunbiaro, said Aketi is the epitomize of courage and catapilar that bring down the arrogance of the enemies of progress. She said the security structure of the country need to be addressed in order to have an effective protection of lives and property for all the citizens.
Also, the governor said that creation of state police and it’s enforcement is Paramount to the development of our nation. He advocates for the creation of the state prison to be manned by the state correctional Officers. Other areas mentioned include Devolution of power and the resource control, National industral master plan for the state to make it industrial hubs infrastructure for the development of the state.
