Ondo Federal Lawmaker, Festus Akingbaso Urges ODHA To Extend Akeredolu’ s Medical Vacation

The Federal Lawmaker representing Idanre Ifedore Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Festus Akingbaso has charged the leadership of the Ondo State House of Assembly to expedite action for the extension of Medical Leave granted Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN.

Governor Akeredolu who is battling undisclosed ailment had earlier requested for 21-days Medical leave abroad and is expected to resume back to office today, though responding to treatment, he has allegedly been advised by his doctors to take adequate rest before returning to the State to resume official duty.

In a telephone conversation with Newsmen, Hon Akingbaso, a former Member of the State Assembly urged the Lawmakers to give assent to extension of the Governor’s leave, saying the constitution of the country makes provision for who takes over in acting capacity whenever the Governor is facing health challenges.

Akingbaso however warned politicians using the health challenge of the Governor to garner political sympathy and patronage to desist, saying Governor Akeredolu is not a machine nor a robot that can’t fall sick.

The MHR further appealed to the State Lawmakers to provide necessary support to the Governor, saying prosperity will judge any action they take against the Governor and the State at this critical time.

In his words: ” Akeredolu is not a machine that can’t fall sick. Working around the clock for the past six years, if he decided to take medical leave abroad to attend to his health challenges, I don’t see any big deal in it”.

“Governor Akeredolu needs ample time to reciprocate from his ailment; let the deputy Governor being in acting capacity pending the time Mr Governor will be fit again, it is constitutional matter”.

Fessywest added that being in the opposition party in the state won’t stop him from standing by the truth always and that the well-being of the people of the State takes priority above personal interest.

He commended the genuine affection and solidarity of the people of the State over their fervent prayers for the Governor with utmost assurance that he will soon join the people of the State.
