Crime: We Will Not Tolerate Thuggery In Ondo State – Adeleye

The Commandant of the South West Security Network Agency , codenamed Amotekun Corp, Ondo State , Chief Akogun Tunji Adeleye has affirmed that thuggery and any forms of criminality would not be condoled in any parts of the state. As Corps paraded seven suspects today at the command’s headquarters in Akure for various degrees of offenses that bordering on robbery ,raping and deforming their victims in the process of carrying out their nefarious activities at Igbokoda ,in Ilaje local Government Area in Ondo State.

According to the source, a lady that was assaulted by the suspected cultists reported her case to the Branch command of the Corps at that local government and immediately the personnel  in the Command  swung into action and they were able to apprehended one of the kingpin suspect who in turn led the Amotekun Corps to arrest other gangs who participated in the robbery and raping . Speaking with the Pressmen, Adeleye said, ” We are here today to sensitise the public about the nefarious activities of the Cultist, especially in the Ilaje local government and to create an awareness that thuggery in the name of whatever Youth Association will not be tolerated in Ondo State “.

Adeleye said on the 7th April, that a lady alighted from a Bus and was subsequently robbed, raped and maligned at Igbokoda and that on the same day ,the lady reported the case at the Amotekun office in that area but by the time his men got to the scene in order to make some arrest they have all ran away. Adeleye said .

Speaking, Adeleye, said the victim narrated her ordeal on how she was rapped, robbed and beating mercilessly and that they also collected her money during the process . According to him, he said the victims was able to recognized and identified some of the suspects and they were able to get seven suspects arrested in the long run at a joint that was noted for such activities at Igbokoda by the gallant men of the Corp.While explaining, Akogun Tunji Adeleye said a thorough search of the House of one of the Prime suspect Moshood kasim, he said his men were able to retrieved the cell phone stollen while the suspect confessed to them that they have shared the money .

Similarly, Adeleye said in the cause of searching the suspect house , others cult members stormed the scene and they were shooting sporadically at the members of the public but the officers of the Corps were able to brought the crisis under control. Items recovered from the suspect House included Charms, Cutlasses, locally made pistol and other ammunition with life bullets and among others things in his House. The Commandant said his men didn’t went to attacked the Youths at Igbokoda as it was being rumored that his men went to attacked Youths. He said in fact the Youth are the strength of the Corps and that the relationship between them and his men are stronger. He however, called on those bad gangs to desist from such nefarious activities as the Corp would not hesitate to pull down their strong hold in other to allow peace to reign in the region .
When asked what would happened after the, parade of the suspect? The Commandant has this to say, ” Thank you very much, the law setting up the Ondo State Network Security Agency , Amotekun Corp 2020 as amended give us the power to investigate, arrest and diligently prosecute . I can give you my words that before the end of this week, all of those that you see here paraded in addition to those that would joined them would have been properly put before the competent court of Jurisdiction to handle their cases. Like you have requested, we will let the public know about that. Thank you very much.”
When interrogating the victim, who is 23 years old, affirmed that those suspects did rapped her, threatened to shut her if she try to run and that they collected her money also. According to her, it was only one Moshood kasim that raped her. That they stopped her when she was coming from Ayetoro to Igbokoda and that they ordered her to go into one uncomplicated building in that area in Igbokoda and there Moshood kasim have canal knowledge with her.
