May Day: Workers In Ondo State Ranks Among The Best In The Country

Workers in Ondo State celebrated the workers day alongside with their counterpart across the nation. The Governor of Ondo State His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa in his May Day celebration speech with the workers today at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade grounds in Akure said ‘ I celebrate the 2024 edition of the workers day with our wonderful workers “. According to him, he said the day was significant because of these reasons among which was that it was the first time he would be celebrating with the lovely workers of the state since he became the Governor.


Also, he explained that the celebration is coming at a time when the state is preparing for her Gubernatorial election and that it is a year of national minimum wage negotiations for workers which comes with the unique demands for mutual understanding, dialogue and fair mindedness. The Governor assured the workers in the state of good welfare package for the incoming new minimum wages as he asked them to wait as it may tarry but it would surely come when it will come. His words ” it would come in a good measure, pressing down, shake it together and it will run over. It will glading your heart when it will come, wait for it, it won’t tarry, though it tarry but it shall come”.
The Governor expressed his profound gratitude to the leadership of the labour leaders in the state for their commitment and their examplenary leadership they provided to the good workers of the state as well as upholding and expanding the socio economic rights of the entire workforce of the state.

He applauded their maturity of standing on the foundation of an endurance in dealing with the government even in the faces of global economic challenges that have greatly impacted workers welfare. He said Ondo State had been enjoying industrial peace due to the transparent administrative practices of the government as the organizing labour are being carried along in the allocation of resources and workers welfare issues.
The Governor explained that his administration doesn’t joke with the welfare of the workers in the state as his administration was given priority to the regular payment of the workers salaries and pension and commitment to the good governance for the delivery of development to the good people of the Ondo State in order to better the life of the people in the state.

He said that Ondo State workers ranked among the best workers in Nigeria due to the crucial effective labour relations among the government and the workers.

Similarly, Aiyedatiwa affirmed that his administration achievements would not have been possible if not because of the commitment and dedication displayed by the workers in the state. He promised to recognised and rewarding the industry and the service of our workforce . He said in a demonstration of the commitment of the government to the dedication of the workers in the state, he said the administration would be given priority to the following . Regular payment of the salary, pension and other back log of the arreas owned to the workers. He talked about the regular promotion of workers with financial backing that is being prioritized as this would served as a motivation to workers for quality service delivery.
The Governor promised to sustained the existing peace industrial relationship enjoying among the labour unions in the state for effective platform which provides opportunities for workers to voiced their concerns and contributed to the development of the state
