The science Teachers in Akure Secondary Commercial School Akure have lamented about the lack of science equipment in their science laboratories for the teaching of the learners that are doing the subjects. According to them, the stop watch and others equipment in the Chemistry laboratory are not functioning and this made it difficult for learners to carry out accurate timing in their practical.
In other laboratory, like Biology and Physics, the equivalent are obsolete and their was no specialized laboratory table or equipment to carry out practical in the laboratory. The table they are managing are in state of repair. There was absence of fire extinguisher and sand bucket in the laboratories to combat emergency fire outbreak.
The library is integra part of teaching and learning which is available in the school but most of the book there , are obsolete according to the librarian and the evidence gotten from the on-the Spot assessment of the facility by the Evaluators on the field assessment.
While the school has good ICT building but no functional computer that learners could use to be computer literate as most Desktop computers that are there are packed in one corner on top of the table in the ICT room.
The school needs constant electricity for them to be using to pump water on the G-P tank that would be used for the learners and staff used in the flushing Toilets for the hygiene and sanitary use of the learners and staff.
Akure Secondary Commercial School located at oke Aro with the total population of 2141 comprises of 1040 Boys and 1101 Girls with total staff strength of seventy seven.
