ONDO NUJ PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO SSG
The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Ondo State Chapter led by the Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Temitayo Oluseye Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government, at his Office in Akure, the State Capital.

The NUJ Chairman, who led other executive members of the Union, congratulated the SSG and the State Governor on their impressive performance since inception.
The Chairman also acknowledged that it is due to the ingenuity, capabilities in grassroot engagements and brilliancy Hon. Oluwatuyi possesses that paved the way for his reappointment the second time as the Secretary to the State Government by the Governor, Arakunrin Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Adegbite emphasized on the experiences garnered by Hon. Oluwatuyi since he joined politics in the State and the political sagacity he displays makes him to be the most experienced politician who has excelled in any position he occupies.
While speaking on the mandate of NUJ in the State, the Chairman enumerated that the Union has come a long way in making sure that news reportage in the State is not one sided and has been given fair reportage to all sectors in the State and also promoting the activities of the government in various areas. He also said the executives and members of NUJ have helped in putting the Union’s name and legacies on the world map.
He solicited for the support and cooperation of Government, especially in the areas of infrastructure facelifting, good welfare for media practitioners and most specifically he mentioned some State owned media outlets that are in comatose and has been rendered dead for months now.
Notwithstanding, the Chairman commended Mr. Governor on the appointment of the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan and the Commissioner for Information, Hon Akinlosotu Olawale and reiterated that the appointments are right pegs in round holes.

In his concluding address, the Chairman pressed the need for staff of Owena Press to be included in the pensionable role of the government and pleaded for members of NUJ to be given political appointments as it is being done in other States of the South West.
Reacting to the NUJ Chairman’s address, Hon. Temitayo Oluseye Oluwatuyi, the Secretary to the State Government congratulated the Chairman and other executive members of the union for their doggedness and professionalism in covering the activities of the government.
According to him, a society devoid of free press and reportage leads to anarchy and this does not promote democratic values. He reminded them of their roles as the 4th estate of the realm and encouraged them not to relent in their functions of informing, educating and entertaining people.
Hon. Oluwatuyi while assuring the union of better days ahead thanked them for the visit and promised to look critically into all the union’s submission and demands, in order to facilitate a cordial relationship between the government and the union.
He equally solicited for the union’s support in given more credence to government by promoting government activities and policies in their coverage.
Nonetheless, he promised to tender the yearnings of the Union before the Governor and assured of Mr. Governor’s listening ears which would lead to the execution of their demands.
