Father’s Day is a day set aside to appreciate the importance of father and their impacts in the life of their families. Particularly for a responsible fathers. The day is meant to celebrate the selfless efforts played by most active and useful fathers in holding the tenant of the family’s culture and inculcating good morals to their children. In Nigeria, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. It’s a holiday meant to honoring one’s father, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.Nigerian has been celebrating this day in the 19th century before this day.

According to report generated by the source, it has been in existence for long  “Father’s Day has been celebrated in Nigeria since the 1900s and was popularized by Western influence.”

This day is to complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Mother’s Day and, in some countries, Siblings Day and Grandparents’ Day. The day is unique because children usually take it as an opportunity to celebrate their father by giving some gifts to appreciate the father’s roles, commitment and guidance upon them.
