Ifedore NOA Embarks On Motorized Campaign On National Value Charter, Civic Education

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) team of Ifedore Local Government Area (LGA) embarked on a Motorized Campaign and Road Show on November 14, 2024, to promote the National Values Charter.

The campaign journeyed across notable locations within Ifedore, with a strong focus on raising awareness about civic values and educating voters about the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, set to take place on November 16. Led by Mr. Adegboyega Faleti , Assistant Director and Mobilization Officer for Ifedore LGA, the road show was supported by his dedicated team, including Mr. Dada Omotade and Mrs. Oyekanmi Damilola, along with the assistance of WAI Brigade officers from the LGA command.

The campaign covered significant areas, starting from Molete and continuing through Fadaka in Igbara-Oke, then winding along Isarun Road and Igbara-Odo on the Ado-Ekiti Road. Along the route, Mr. Faleti engaged with residents, stopping at various points to share the core messages of the NOA. He highlighted the values embedded within the National Anthem, particularly encouraging every Nigerian to embrace it wholeheartedly.

Emphasizing the significance of the anthem, he explained that the first stanza should be sung at every public gathering, while the complete anthem would be reserved for important national occasions, such as Democracy Day and the inauguration of governors or the president. He also introduced the third stanza as the newly adopted national prayer, a reflection of unity and patriotism.

Mr. Faleti spoke passionately about the pressing need to restore Nigeria’s declining moral values, describing the deterioration as alarming. According to him, the erosion of discipline and morality is at a worrying level, impacting the nation’s social fabric.

He reminded the residents that the anthem’s lyrics convey a message of unity and the essential act of greeting and respecting one another—an act he said is critical at this juncture in Nigeria’s history. This emphasis on unity and mutual respect, he asserted, is at the heart of the NOA’s message and aligns with the agency’s mission to build a cohesive and respectful society.

In furtherance of this mission, Mr. Faleti introduced Seven Promises to citizens, pledging commitments to Equality, Democracy, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Peace and Security, Inclusivity, Freedom and Justice, and Meritocracy. Complementing these promises, he also outlined the Seven Core Citizen Codes: Discipline, Duty of Care, Tolerance and Respect, Leadership, Transparency, Environmental Awareness, and Resilience.

These values and codes, he explained, form the foundation of a responsible and engaged citizenry, which the NOA seeks to nurture across all levels of society.

To strengthen these values in future generations, Mr. Faleti is announced several new initiatives from the NOA. These include plans to develop animated cartoons and films to instill indigenous values in children, introduce citizenship education across primary to tertiary institutions, and establish the Citizens Brigade, a force of 37,000 members with representatives from every state and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Through these proactive steps, he said , the NOA aims to shape a generation that upholds Nigerian values and actively contributes to the nation’s growth and stability.
