The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) proudly celebrates Dr. Alaba Joseph Adebayo, whose exceptional research in Chemistry has earned him the prestigious 2025 Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) PhD Thesis Prize. The award, which honors outstanding academic contributions and groundbreaking research, was officially announced on January 11, 2025, and celebrated at a ceremony on February 4, 2025, at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

Dr. Adebayo joins three other distinguished scholars, including Dr. Ezekiel Olaoluwa Omole (Mathematics and Statistics), Dr. Chidiebere Charles Agoha (Earth Sciences), and Dr. Cookey Iyen (Physics and Astronomy), as recipients of the coveted award. Each laureate received NGN 500,000, a certificate, and additional honors such as life membership in the NSPS, an article publication charge waiver, and an editorial role in the Society’s journals.

Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, expressed immense pride in Dr. Adebayo’s achievement, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering excellence in research. Likewise, Prof. Ilemobayo Oguntimehin, Director of the Centre for Research and Development at OAUSTECH, lauded Dr. Adebayo for exemplifying the caliber of young Nigerian scholars making notable strides in scientific research.

This accolade highlights not only Dr. Adebayo’s dedication and innovative contributions to the field of Chemistry but also underscores the growing global recognition of OAUSTECH as a hub of academic excellence.
