The Ondo State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspected armed robbers believed to be behind a series of robberies in Akure. In a statement released by the  CSP. Funmilayo Odunlami, mnipr,

Ondo State Command ,
Akure said the suspects, 26-year-olds Amubieya Emmanuel and Ogunmola Akintola, were arrested on February 25, 2025, by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team in Ondo Town.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects had been involved in multiple robbery incidents targeting women since August 2024. They would typically approach their victims late at night in a Toyota Camry, drive them to secluded areas, and rob them at gunpoint. It was later discovered that the gun used in these operations was a toy gun.

The police recovered several items from the suspects, including the Toyota Camry used for the robberies, a knife, an iron rod, and the toy gun. The suspects, who had been under surveillance, have confessed to the crimes, and investigations are underway to apprehend any other possible accomplices.

The Ondo State Police Command has urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to ensure the safety and security of the community.
