Ondo Police Warn Against Disruptive Protest, Calls for Dialogue

The Ondo State Police Command has issued a strong warning against any attempts to disrupt the peace following intelligence reports of a planned protest by the Take It Back Movement and its affiliates. Set to take place today, the protest has raised concerns amid ongoing security efforts in the state.
While the police recognize citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly, they emphasize the timing of the protest, citing the current security challenges. Authorities worry that the demonstration could be hijacked by unruly elements, undermining recent gains in law and order.
In a statement, the Police Command urged the leadership of the movement and other concerned groups to seek dialogue rather than take to the streets, which could escalate tensions in an already sensitive period.
The Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Wilfried Olutokunbo Afolabi, has deployed additional security personnel to key areas across the state to ensure public safety. Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
