Ondo State Police Refutes Viral Video on Alleged Kidnapping Incident
Akure, Ondo State – April 9, 2025 – The Ondo State Police Command has issued a formal clarification in response to a viral video circulating across social media, which falsely claims to depict a recent kidnapping incident in the state.
The video, which has sparked widespread concern, was thoroughly investigated by the police. Upon review, it has been confirmed that the incident shown in the video did not occur in Ondo State, but rather in a community in Edo State near the Ondo State border, and it took place last year.
The Police Command strongly condemns the spreading of this misleading information, emphasizing that it endangers public safety, fuels unnecessary panic, and may interfere with ongoing security efforts. The Command urges citizens to verify information before sharing it, particularly through social media, to avoid further escalation of misinformation.
The Ondo State Police Command continues to work closely with other security agencies and community leaders to ensure the safety and security of all residents. The public is reminded to rely on official police channels for accurate updates on security matters.
