Insecurity:Amotekun Corps Parades 31 Suspects in Ondo, Including 13 for Kidnapping

The operatives of the security network agency codenamed Amotekun in Ondo State have paraded 31 suspects for various degrees of offense. As stated by the Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye in Akure when parading the suspects before the pressmen.
He said 46 of the suspects riding motorcycles at night were arrested and warned for the last time. He said the command only arrested those ones with criminal tendencies and that they were being profiled. He explained that there are no fresh problems on land and chieftaincy issues. While on labour union, Adeleye said the state is peaceful.
Speaking, he said on anti-grazing and farmer-herder clashes, they had only one suspect, while on human trafficking, there was none within this period under review. Thirteen kidnapping suspects were recorded. He said that these numbers of suspects under this category show that there was a decline in the number of kidnapping cases in the state as against the last quarter of the year. He said with confidence that the command wants to assure the people that the state is relatively safe and that they would do everything in conjunction with the other security agencies in the state to ensure that life and property are safe in Ondo State.
Adeleye opined that among the people arrested was a serial rapist who has been taken to court, prosecuted twice, and now rearrested again for the same offense. He said they have those who specialize in breaking into shops and houses, who had gone to the correctional centres and come back and are being recycled today.
Explaining further, Adeleye said they also arrested some suspects that were providing daily information to the suspected kidnappers in the forest. He said the main essence of this was to inform the people that Ondo State is very safe for law-abiding citizens to live despite the little breaches we have all around.
Similarly, when asked if any of those suspects arrested were linked to previous kidnappings happening in the state and beyond, his response was that all the kidnapping suspects arrested today were directly linked to one suspect of kidnapping and others. We will not call them kidnappers until a court of competent jurisdiction so declares.
On the issue of the scavengers, who are ravaging our land and causing killings, it was put before the commander to place them where they actually belong. In his response, the Amotekun Commander, Adeleye, said the majority of those scavengers were actually informants to armed robbers and kidnappers, as revealed by intelligence gathering. He said apart from being informants, those scavengers are also engaged in kidnapping and killings themselves. He explained that “you would recall some couple of months ago that the scavengers carried a whole human being and put inside their truck they push, and so the state government is working on banning scavenging activities within the state. But what Mr. Governor has said is that he has to provide a substitute for ensuring cleanliness before they are totally banned, but I can assure you that within the shortest time, the government would take action against the nefarious activities of these scavengers.”
