— Budget targets sustainable development; swift legislative action promised

In a move aimed at deepening transparency, development, and good governance, the Executive Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Amona Maurice Oripenaye (Arah), on Monday, May 5th, 2025, formally presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Ilaje Legislative Council at the Council Chambers. The legislative session was presided over by the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Ikuemehinlo Omosule Francis (Tego).

Describing the budget as one tailored for the sustainable growth of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Oripenaye emphasized that the financial document reflects the aspirations, yearnings, and developmental priorities of the people. He reiterated his commitment to accountable and inclusive governance, highlighting the budget’s focus on areas with direct positive impact on the lives of residents.

“It gladdens my heart to present this budget to this august Assembly of distinguished Honourable Members. The document encapsulates the vision and needs of our people, and I humbly seek your swift, fair, and kind consideration for its approval,” he stated during the presentation.

In response, the Legislative Council, through its Leader, Rt. Hon. Omosule Francis (Tego), commended the thoroughness and people-centric approach of the Executive Chairman. He assured that the House would expedite legislative action on the budget to ensure its timely implementation.

According to the budget document, the total proposed budget for the 2025 fiscal year stands at ₦6,178,694,215.73, comprising a recurrent expenditure of ₦5,189,994,215.73 and capital expenditure of ₦988,700,000.00. The budget breakdown includes detailed sectoral allocations and projected revenue sources to drive the fiscal year’s operations.

Dignitaries present at the presentation included Vice Chairman Hon. (Mrs.) Esejuwon Oluwarantimi, Secretary to the LG Hon. Segun Odolo, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Mr. Adeoye Atibioke, DGSA Mr. Babajide Kayode, Director of Finance and Supply Mr. Gbenga Ojo, Clerk of the House Dr. Olorunsemi Akin Akindoyo, and Deputy Clerk Mr. Falomo Adekunle.

Also in attendance were APC leaders including Ilaje LG APC Chairman Hon. Adegboye Raphael, Vice Chairman Pst. Olatokunbo Iwamisan, Women Leader Princess Efurubu Aderonke, PRO Hon. Mafolabomi Daniel, as well as Princess Esther Orofin Omosebi (Aheri/Etikan LCDA Chairman), and Barr. Omowole Adeyoriju, among others.

Heads of various LG departments, Chairman’s aides, political leaders, press members, security personnel, and community stakeholders were also present. Representatives from Hope Newspaper and other media outlets covered the event.

During the session, Hon. Ehuwa Banji (Mahin Ward 4 Councillor) moved a motion regarding a one-way traffic regulation, which proceeded to the second reading. The session concluded with unanimous expressions of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Oripenaye and acknowledgment of the smooth and successful budget presentation process.
