Ilaje LG Chairman Condemns Indecent Dressing, Warns Against Public Immorality

By Exponent News Akure. 7th May, 2025.

In a bold move to restore public decency and enforce moral discipline, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Amona Maurice Oripenaye (popularly known as Arah), has strongly condemned indecent dressing, warning that his administration will not tolerate any form of public immorality or indiscipline.

Addressing residents on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Ilaje LG Secretariat, Hon. Oripenaye reacted to a recent incident involving a provocatively dressed woman who was asked to leave the premises by a security officer, resulting in a confrontation. The Chairman emphasized that public spaces are not appropriate for skimpy or revealing outfits that could arouse indecent reactions or provoke misconduct, particularly among the opposite sex.

“My government will not condone any act of immorality or indiscipline,” the LG Chairman declared, issuing a stern warning particularly to young ladies across the area. “Anyone found dressed half-naked will face reprimand or arrest.”

Citing a previous incident where he sent a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member home for dressing inappropriately, Hon. Oripenaye described modern fashion trends among women as “immoral, devilish, jezebel-like, and provocative.” He urged residents to uphold moral propriety and decency, calling on women to shun what he described as satanic dressing patterns.

In recognition of his actions, the security officer who turned away the indecently dressed woman was financially rewarded by the Chairman. Hon. Oripenaye further instructed all security personnel in the local government to emulate this vigilance and prevent improperly dressed individuals from accessing public facilities.

“This is a collective responsibility aimed at ending immorality and promoting discipline in public spaces,” he said, adding that the intention is not to embarrass citizens, but to challenge their sense of decency for the betterment of society.
