NOA APPLAUDS ONDO GOVERNMENT ON NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION PLUS DAYS (NIPDs)

The National Orientation Agency, ( NOA) Ondo State Directorate has commended the Ondo State Government for its unwavering commitment and effective implementation of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign aimed at eradicating vaccine-preventable diseases among children across the State.

The Director of Ondo State NOA, Mr James Adekunle made this remark in Akure on Friday noted that Ondo State Government collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and key development partners has recorded a successful implementation of National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) in the State.

Reports from the Agency’s Field officers in the 18LGAs of the State indicate a high turnout at immunization posts, with many centres recording higher-than-expected attendance figures. Also, the Officers observed strong logistics support and timely vaccine distribution, which have been crucial in reaching remote communities.

Also reported was an overwhelming parental consent and responses from caregivers who presented their children for vaccination in all the 18LGAs. This positive attitude from the parents depict their trust in the healthcare system and understanding of the importance of immunization which have greatly contributed to the success of this year’s campaign.

Meanwhile, the NIPDs campaign is a national initiative supported by International partners such as WHO and UNICEF, to immunize children under the age of five against poliovirus and other preventable diseases. The just concluded exercise in Ondo State has been adjudged as one of the most successful in recent years.
