Clash Over Alleged Abduction Leaves Herdsman Dead in Ondo Community

A herdsman has been confirmed dead and two others injured—including a local vigilante commander—following a violent clash in Ikakumo, a community in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The confrontation reportedly erupted when members of the vigilante group confronted some herders over the alleged abduction of a resident identified as Balogun. The situation escalated, leading to a physical altercation during which one of the herdsmen was fatally stabbed.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, with residents expressing fear of possible reprisal attacks by herders.
Ondo State Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway. He added that calm has since been restored in the community.
