The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on all public sector unions to intensify efforts to secure payment of outstanding wage award arrears owed to federal workers. In a letter signed by NLC President Joe Ajaero, the Congress emphasized the need for stronger, unified action to bring the matter to a close.

The NLC has set a deadline of May 31st for unions to submit reports on their efforts, which will inform the next phase of engagement with the authorities. The Congress warned that failure to fulfill promises may lead to escalated action, appealing to unions’ sense of solidarity to ensure that past efforts are not in vain.

The NLC’s demand is part of its ongoing efforts to hold the government accountable for workers’ welfare, and the outcome is expected to have significant implications for federal workers nationwide.
