…Commends Governor Aiyedatiwa for massive investment in education sector

As the world commemorates International Children’s Day, the Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, has called on parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to renew their commitment to the holistic development and protection of children, particularly the less privileged.

Olabimtan made this call in a goodwill message delivered in commemoration of the global celebration themed “Stand up, Speak up: Building a Bully-Free Generation.” He stressed the importance of empathy and kindness in child upbringing and advocated for the creation of safe, inclusive learning environments free from bullying and abuse.

Highlighting the achievements of the Ondo State Government under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Olabimtan applauded the administration’s commitment to education and child welfare. According to him, “Our children in Ondo State have never had it this good. Through the EASE Agenda, the state has rehabilitated over 900 classrooms, perimeter fences, and boreholes across public primary schools.”

He also noted the government’s provision of free, quality education, coupled with the distribution of instructional materials and sports equipment at no cost to pupils. “The burden of school fees has been lifted from parents, making education more accessible and inclusive,” he added.

Olabimtan lauded the Governor for the consistent approval and payment of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) matching grants, which he said has significantly enhanced the education landscape in the state.

The ODSUBEB boss also used the occasion to commend the role of teachers in shaping future leaders, assuring that the Board remains committed to continuous training and retraining to enhance teachers’ capacity.

Earlier in the week, Olabimtan chaired a one-day workshop themed around this year’s Children’s Day focus. He condemned the rising cases of bullying in schools, warning that such behavior poses long-term psychological and emotional risks to young learners.

“As stakeholders in the education sector, we must take collective action to eliminate bullying and promote safe spaces for all children,” he emphasized.

He concluded by congratulating the children of Ondo State and their families, praying they continue to experience progress and prosperity.
