As part of activities marking his first 100 days in office, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday commissioned the rehabilitated and asphalted Stadium/Hospital Road in Ondo City, Ondo West Local Government Area.

The event signaled the commencement of a week-long celebration of the administration’s milestone achievements since assuming office.

Describing the project as a “critical lifeline,” Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of the road in connecting communities to essential healthcare services. He said the reconstructed route is a strategic asset that reflects his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development under the “OUR EASE” governance agenda.

“This is not just another road,” the Governor said during the commissioning. “It is an artery to healthcare, a symbol of improved accessibility, and a clear expression of our commitment to improving lives in Ondo State.”

The road, which had been in a deplorable state, serves as a major access point to the General Hospital in Ondo City and the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex. The Governor noted that the poor condition previously hindered emergency services and posed a significant risk to patients and healthcare delivery.

Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to the contractors, engineers, and residents along the corridor for their cooperation and patience during the construction. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to delivering more life-impacting projects aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” national development framework.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, in his remarks, lauded the Governor’s resolve to address the state’s infrastructure challenges. He revealed that additional road projects are ongoing in the Ayeyemi, Valentino, and Sabo areas of Ondo City.

In their separate comments, Hon. Abiola Makinde, representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency, and Hon. MoyinOlorun Ogunwumiju of Ondo West Constituency 1, applauded the Governor’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. They described the road as a testament to responsive governance.

Hon. Ayotunde Akinfolarin, Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, called the commissioning a historic event, noting its direct impact on grassroots development.

Traditional institutions were also represented at the event. The Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Simeon Oguntimehin, conveyed the goodwill of the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo. He praised the Governor’s responsiveness to the people’s needs and called for continued community support for the administration.

Among the dignitaries present were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi; members of the State Executive Council; traditional rulers; and other top officials.
