Aiyedatiwa Bolsters Security with 50 New Operational Vehicles for Ondo Agencies

4th June , 2025. Akure

In a bold move to strengthen security architecture across Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday distributed 50 brand-new Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to security agencies, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to a safer and more secure state.

The distribution, held at the Government House in Akure, was a key highlight of the Governor’s first 100 days in office, and marked what he called a “significant step in the collective effort to safeguard lives and property across Ondo State.”

“This event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and capacity of our security agencies to respond to any security alert or acts of criminality in the State,” Aiyedatiwa said during the handover ceremony.

The Governor emphasized that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader development strategy, tagged OUR EASE, which prioritizes citizen safety and inter-agency collaboration. He noted that this latest batch follows a similar distribution of 25 vehicles in July 2024, underscoring a sustained commitment to security logistics.

Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the benefiting agencies to deploy the vehicles for patrol, emergency response, and crime prevention, assuring that his government would continue to invest in tools necessary for peace and stability.

Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, in his remarks, reaffirmed the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on insecurity. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency synergy and enforce law and order across the state.

The initiative drew commendations from top security stakeholders. Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brig. Gen. Justin Ifeanyi, speaking on behalf of all security agencies, assured that the vehicles would be used strictly for operational purposes and well maintained.

Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the gesture would significantly ease mobility challenges and enhance rapid response, while Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, hailed it as a “giant stride” in addressing long-standing logistical challenges among security operatives.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Oluseyi Okenla, representing the Commissioner of Police, thanked the Governor for his continued support, describing the donation as “a testament to a government that truly values security.”

The event was attended by top state officials including Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, Head of Service Mr. Bayo Philip, members of the State Executive Council, legislators, political appointees, and security heads.
