POLICE NAB TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVER ARMS IN ONDO FOREST RAID

By Exponent News Akure, June 19, 2025

Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested and a cache of arms and dangerous weapons recovered in Epinmi Akoko, following a joint operation by the Police and local security forces.

The suspects, identified as Arohunmolase Idowu, 25, and Bada Tosin, 26, were apprehended after the Epinmi Vigilante Group intercepted the first suspect loitering suspiciously in the early hours of June 18. Unable to explain his movements, he was handed over to the police, prompting a swift response from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Isua.

A joint team of police officers and other security personnel subsequently tracked and arrested the second suspect. The suspects then led the operatives to a remote building hidden in the bush, where a search yielded:

Two locally-made dane guns

Four cutlasses

Four axes

Assorted charms

Other dangerous weapons

Alarmingly, a deep pit believed to have been used for holding kidnapped victims was also discovered inside the structure.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the suspects and the recovered items have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
