In line with its pledge to uphold transparency and citizen engagement in governance, the House of Representatives has released the official Order Paper detailing legislative activities for today’s plenary session.

A highlight of today’s session is the planned admittance of delegates attending the 8th Conference of the Network of African Parliamentarians for Defence and Security Committees (REPAM–CDS), who will observe proceedings in the chamber upon a motion by House Leader, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere.

The day’s agenda is packed with the presentation of multiple bills for first and second readings, the submission of committee reports, and deliberation on key motions addressing national development, public welfare, and institutional reform.

Bills for First Reading
Lawmakers will introduce 13 bills, including:

National Directorate of Employment Act (Amendment) – Rep. Eze Nwachukwu Eze

Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Omuo-Ekiti (Establishment) – Rep. Olufemi Richard Bamisile

Cocoa Research Institute, Idanre (Establishment) – Rep. Festus Akingbaso

Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Sixth Alteration) – Rep. Aminu Jamo Daura

Reports and Second Reading of Bills
Rep. Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa will present a report on the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of Islamic Conference (PUIC). Twelve bills are slated for second reading, ranging from proposals for free internet access in public places to the establishment of higher institutions across several states.

Key Motions for Deliberation
Among the motions up for debate:

Confirmation of qualified contract staff at the Transmission Company of Nigeria – Rep. Felix Uche Nwaeke

Implementation of the Nigeria Police Academy Act with multi-campus structure – Rep. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul

Inclusion of LG and FCT Area Council representatives in FAAC – Rep. Shehu Saleh Rijau

Additionally, the House will consider the domestication of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Framework, establishing the African Union Development Agency.

The House reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely legislative information through its official communication channels, including the Green Chamber’s and Speaker Abbas’ WhatsApp channels.
