Ondo State Commissioner of Police Embarks on Unscheduled Visit to Police Training School, Oyin Akoko and Police Secondary School, Isua Akoko*

In a continuous effort to strengthen internal security and boost the morale of personnel across all police establishments in Ondo State, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, on Wednesday paid an unscheduled visit to the Police Training School, Oyin Akoko, where recently recruited police constables are undergoing training.

During his address to the trainees, CP Lawal admonished them to be worthy ambassadors of their families, communities, and local government areas.

He charged them to uphold discipline, display exemplary character, and live up to the confidence reposed in them by the Nigeria Police Force and the nation at large, even while still in training.

During the interactive session, a trainee raised a question concerning welfare matters, specifically the provision of uniforms and payment of allowances. In response, the Commissioner of Police conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, whom he represented at the occasion. He assured the trainees that their welfare concerns are receiving the highest priority and will be promptly addressed in line with the IGP’s clear directives.

The Commissioner further emphasized that the IGP is a known welfarist who cares passionately about the well-being of officers and men under his command, and remains committed to ensuring that their needs are met without delay.

In his welcome remarks, the Commandant of the Training School, ACP Adebayo Rafiu, expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for the surprise visit, noting that he had barely resumed office four days prior. He described the CP’s visit as timely, adding that it would go a long way in boosting the morale of the recruits and instilling in them a greater sense of duty, discipline, and confidence as they prepare to graduate into active service.

A major highlight of the visit was an interactive session between the Commissioner of Police and the trainees, where various questions relating to police duties, professional conduct, and ethical standards were discussed. The recruits expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s fatherly engagement and inspiring words.

CP Lawal also inspected key facilities within the training school, including the kitchen, dormitories, and medical centre. He expressed satisfaction with the conditions and emphasized the importance of maintaining standards. In recognition of the impressive guard-of-honour and sentry parade staged by the trainees, the Commissioner offered tokens of appreciation to participants as a morale booster.

In the same vein, the Commissioner also visited the Police Secondary School, Isua Akoko, where he was warmly received by the Commandant SP Nanloh Ridndap, staff, and management team. CP Lawal signed the Visitors’ Register and interacted with the students, to whom he delivered the goodwill message of the IGP.

Encouraging the students to remain focused and committed to their academic pursuits, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that the sky is their starting point and assured them that the Nigeria Police Force under the purposeful leadership of IGP Egbetokun is committed to their welfare.

To further enhance the security of the institution, the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Isua Division, to intensify patrols and fortify the security architecture around the school, declaring:
“These students are our children, and under God, we will do everything possible to ensure their safety, security, and well-being.”

This visit underscores the Ondo State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to internal security, personnel welfare, and community engagement in alignment with the vision of the Inspector General of Police.
