Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery as he inaugurated the second batch of Commissioners into the State Executive Council.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome), Igbatoro Road, Akure, marked a key step in the Governor’s vision for a prosperous Ondo State.

In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the newly appointed Commissioners to hit the ground running, acknowledging that the citizens of Ondo State have high expectations and demand excellence in governance. He emphasized that the people had entrusted his administration with a significant mandate, and it was crucial to deliver on the promises made during the election campaign.

“The people of Ondo State expect nothing short of the best from us,” Governor Aiyedatiwa remarked. “We must live up to their expectations and deliver on our promises with unwavering commitment and excellence.”

While addressing the delay in the appointments, the Governor explained that his administration prefers a steady and thoughtful approach to governance, focusing on sustainable progress and achieving long-term goals over rushing into decisions.

“Slow and steady wins the race,” he stated, highlighting that within the first 100 days of his tenure, his administration has shown that this approach leads to consistent and impactful results.

The Governor expressed his congratulations to the newly sworn-in Commissioners, praising their qualifications, track records, and commitment to public service. He called on them to maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism, as they work together to advance the state’s development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also cautioned the families and associates of the new appointees, urging them not to place undue pressure on the Commissioners for personal or sectional gain.

He further encouraged the appointees to align their efforts with the administration’s 7-point agenda, known as OUR EASE, which focuses on key areas such as Economic Development, Food Security, Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Security, Youth Empowerment, and Social Welfare.

Reflecting on the administration’s progress, the Governor highlighted significant achievements, including the initiation of infrastructure projects, improvement of socio-economic welfare for vulnerable citizens, and proactive engagement with investors that are benefitting the state’s economy.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to security, mentioning the recent approval of a Bill that proposes harsher penalties, including the death sentence, for kidnappers and abductors.

To those awaiting appointments, the Governor assured that opportunities for service to the state would continue to arise.

Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the Secretary to the State Government, described the appointment of the new Commissioners as an important step toward inclusive governance. He lauded the Governor’s visionary leadership, which he said has led to the careful selection of appointees based on merit, competence, and loyalty to the OUR EASE agenda.

In response, Mr. Omoyofunmi Segun, on behalf of the new Commissioners, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to serve and promised to work diligently in the best interest of the people of Ondo State.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa; Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omajuwa; and numerous political, religious, and community leaders.
