All Bills Are Important, But Women’s Issues Are Critical — Hon. Faleke

By Exponent News, Akure | July 16, 2025

Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives, has emphasized the significance of all proposed bills currently under public hearing across the country, while highlighting issues relating to women as particularly critical for consideration in the ongoing constitutional amendment process.

Speaking during a media interview after a well-attended public hearing held in Akure, Hon. Faleke praised the active participation of citizens from Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti States, describing the turnout as a reflection of a politically aware and enlightened society.

“All the various bills sponsored by the representatives of the people are important. Each one means a lot to the people who submitted them,” he said. “However, issues like women’s special seats and judicial reforms at the lower level stand out as critical areas we must give serious attention to.”

According to Hon. Faleke, the hearing, which featured presentations on over 80 bills, was part of the National Assembly’s effort to gather public input on key constitutional amendments.

“We are fulfilled that the people have made their voices heard. It’s now our duty to return to the floor of the parliament with their positions clearly articulated,” he stated.

He commended the leadership of the National Assembly for initiating the public hearing sessions and expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State for hosting the event.

“It has been a successful outing. The contributions from the public will definitely shape the decisions we take at the national level. We also hope the state assemblies will align with the people’s aspirations when the bills are returned to them for concurrence,” he added.

The public hearing in Akure is part of the broader constitutional review process aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democratic framework through inclusive governance and reform-driven legislation.
