The Ondo State Police Command has lauded the people of Ondo State for their unwavering vigilance, cooperation, and timely dissemination of credible information, which have significantly enhanced the Command’s operational efficiency in combating crime and maintaining public order.
Addressing journalists during a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police expressed deep appreciation to residents for their support, which he described as vital to the Command’s continued successes in tackling criminal activities across the state. He also extended special gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his steadfast support and provision of resources to strengthen security operations within the state.
The CP outlined several notable cases recently recorded by the Command, attributing their successful resolution to the proactive collaboration between security agencies and community stakeholders. He emphasized that these cases are a testament to the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety, enforcing the rule of law, and delivering professional, accountable, and community-driven policing services.
While assuring residents of the Command’s continuous efforts to bolster intelligence and operational response across all areas, the CP sternly warned against the growing trend of jungle justice. He stressed that mob actions not only obstruct police investigations but also undermine the justice system and endanger innocent lives. Citizens were urged to exercise restraint and report all criminal activities to appropriate authorities rather than resort to self-help.
“The Command continues to count on the vigilance, cooperation, and credible information from the good people of Ondo State. We reaffirm and resolve to provide a safe and secure environment for all residents through lawful, ethical, and responsive policing,” the CP stated.
Furthermore, the Commissioner used the briefing to alert parents and guardians on the need to caution their children and wards against participating in any so-called “August 88 crime celebration,” a deviant gathering similar to the infamous “July 77” event observed among certain criminal elements across the country. He described such gatherings as unlawful assemblies that glorify criminality and assured that the police would clamp down on any such activities with full force of the law.
The CP concluded by reiterating the Command’s dedication to maintaining public order and assured that further updates on ongoing investigations will be provided in due course.
