OSOPADEC Boss Dismisses EFCC Case, Vows to Reposition Commission

Admin 4th September,2925

The newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, has declared that neither he nor his leadership of the commission has any case to answer with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Poroye, who resumed office barely a week ago, clarified that the EFCC invitation was not directed at him personally but was connected to petitions covering the period from 2018 to date, long before his assumption of duty. He emphasized that the matter had already been addressed accordingly.

According to him, his immediate focus is to restructure the commission for effective service delivery, insisting that OSOPADEC was designed as an interventionist agency to respond swiftly to emergencies in oil-producing areas, not to function like conventional ministries with bureaucratic bottlenecks.

Since his assumption, Poroye and his board have embarked on a familiarization tour, revived abandoned projects worth billions of naira as directed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, resolved costly litigations, and engaged stakeholders to source additional funding from interventionist agencies.

The chairman has also prioritized bursary and scholarship payments, welfare grants for the aged and vulnerable, as well as staff training, capacity building, and improved working conditions.

Poroye maintained that attempts at blackmail or misinformation will not derail his commitment. “The spirit to perform is high, the willpower is active, and the capacity to navigate manipulations is visible,” he said.
