In a grand celebration of excellence and public service, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ondo State, has been honoured with The Democrat News Magazine’s Distinguished Leadership Award and named Ondo State Man of the Year 2025.

The prestigious award was presented during the magazine’s 7th Anniversary Celebration held at the OSDPC Event Centre, Japo Estate, Akure. The event drew dignitaries from across the state and beyond, marking a moment of recognition for leaders making significant impact in governance, education, business, and community development.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Omojuwa described the award as a reflection of the collective progress being driven by the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whom he praised for his visionary leadership. “This award is not mine alone; it is a testimony to the positive impact of our policies and programmes on the lives of our people,” he said.

He dedicated the honour to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo State, noting that the award symbolises the success of the government’s “EASE Agenda”—a framework focused on Equity, Accountability, Service, and Excellence.

“This award is a tribute to the indefatigable and transformative leadership of His Excellency. I dedicate this award to Mr. Governor and the good people of Ondo State,” Omojuwa declared.

Despite his long-standing aversion to public accolades, Omojuwa said the values and integrity of The Democrat and the significance of the moment made this honour too important to decline.

A Legacy of Service and Excellence

Prince Omojuwa’s recognition did not come by chance. With a public service career spanning over three decades, his journey from a classroom teacher to becoming the Chief of Staff to the Governor is marked by distinction, innovation, and impact.

A political scientist and lawyer by training, he has served in numerous key roles within the Ondo State Local Government system, rising to become Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA). His involvement in drafting critical governance frameworks such as the Ondo State Local Government Staff Regulations (2009) underscores his long-standing commitment to institutional excellence.

His academic credentials include degrees from Ondo State University, Obafemi Awolowo University, and Elizade University, where he earned a Law degree with Second Class Upper Honours.

In 2023, despite retiring from civil service, he was recalled to serve again—first as Deputy Chief of Staff and then elevated to Chief of Staff in 2024 by Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Eminent Personalities, Other Honourees

The event also honoured other distinguished leaders, including:

Dr. (Mrs.) Fadekemi Jogbodo – Woman of the Year & Distinguished Leader in Education

Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson – Leader in Local Government Administration

Evang. Oluwasola Ajayi David – Business Management Leadership

Prince Matthew Adegoke – Icon of Humanitarian Services

Hon. (Deacon) Mayokun Akinmoladun – Political Leader of the Year

Hon. Ronke Aramide Akerele – Icon of Noble Impact

Hon. David Ajobiewe – Excellence in Political Service

Legacy Elite Club, Akure – Most Impactful Club in Ondo State

The awards celebrated individuals who have excelled in public service, governance, education, business, and humanitarian work.

Bridging Divides for National Unity

A major highlight of the anniversary celebration was a lecture delivered by Mr. James Adekunle, Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ondo State. Speaking on the theme, “Bridging the Divide: Fostering National Unity in a Diverse Nigeria,” Adekunle called on Nigerians to embrace diversity as strength, not a threat.

He traced the historical roots of Nigeria’s divisions to colonial legacies and urged a renewed commitment to unity through inclusive policies, cultural tolerance, and shared national values.

Honouring a Quiet Giant

Born into the royal lineage of Igboegunrin, Prince Omojuwa is widely revered for his humility, strategic insight, and deep empathy. A Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP), a devoted family man, and a generous mentor to many, he remains a pillar in Ondo State’s political and administrative evolution.

With this honour, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa joins the league of enduring icons whose legacy of service continues to shape the state’s future.

“Together, we will ensure Ondo State remains a beacon of hope and progress in Nigeria,” he concluded.

Conclusion

As accolades pour in from across the state and nation, the message is clear: Prince Olusegun Omojuwa’s leadership is not only effective—it is exemplary. His story is a powerful reminder that quiet strength, dedicated service, and vision-driven governance still hold a central place in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
