Akure South Local Government is facing criticism for the deplorable condition of roads in the area, particularly, Shittu street (Mayowa) along Oda Road, which is home to the Ondo State School of Health Technology and Millennium School of Health Technology. Residents and commuters have expressed frustration with the poor state of the roads, citing difficulties navigating the area, especially during rainy seasons. The two entrance junctions, Ologede and the School of Health and Technology leading to the street was initially graded by the  Landlord Association in that area according to one of the residents Mr Kuye Babatunde who have been living in that areas for years.

Key Issues:

*Poor Road Conditions*: The roads are in a state of disrepair, making it challenging for motorcycles and other vehicles to navigate.
– *Abandoned by Government*: The residents feel that the local government has neglected the area, leaving them to rely on temporary fixes by the Landlord Association.
– *High Population Density*: The area is densely populated, with students from the two schools, making it essential to have good roads.

Possible Solution:

– *Urgent Repairs*: The Akure South Local Government should prioritize repairing and maintaining the roads to ensure they are motorable and safe for commuters.
– *Collaboration with State Government*: Given the significance of the road network, the state government may need to step in to support the local government in addressing the infrastructure challenges.

It’s worth noting that the Ondo State Government has been working on various road projects in Akure, including the Akure-Idanre Road and other township roads. The government has emphasized its commitment to improving infrastructure across the state ¹ ².
