Akure 8th November, 2025.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the forgery and illegal distribution of motorcycle (Okada) emblems falsely presented as those issued by the state government.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the arrest followed a report by the Branch Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Owo, after a fake emblem was found in the possession of a commercial motorcyclist.

Investigations revealed that the counterfeit emblems were being produced and distributed by one Ojo Agbi, identified as the Unit Chairman at Uso, alongside another suspect currently under investigation. Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Command’s CP Monitoring Unit swiftly apprehended the principal suspect, who reportedly confessed to the crime and is cooperating with investigators.

Further findings showed that the suspects had been running the illegal operation for some time, selling the fake emblems to unsuspecting commercial riders and even criminal elements posing as legitimate operators. The police say their activities not only defrauded motorcyclists but also posed a security threat to the public.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, commended the swift action of the CP Monitoring Unit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rooting out all forms of criminal activity in the state. He warned that perpetrators of fraud and forgery would be tracked and brought to justice, no matter where they hide.

The CP also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his leadership and reforms aimed at improving policing effectiveness across the country.

Residents and members of transport unions were urged to obey the law, avoid illegal dealings, and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
