Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo East Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, endorsing him for the Ondo East/West federal constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came during a solidarity visit to the Speaker at the Assembly Complex in Akure, where the party chieftains also passed a vote of confidence on his leadership. They applauded his efforts in strengthening the relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government and credited him with contributing to political stability in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, APC Chairman in Ondo East, Hon. Olamigoke Busayo, commended Oladiji’s achievements and dismissed recent allegations of misappropriating ₦50 million as baseless. He described the claims as the handiwork of “mischief-makers,” while appreciating Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for addressing the matter promptly.

“Your tenure has been devoid of any financial scandal, and we stand firmly with you,” Busayo stated, urging members of the Assembly to continue backing the Speaker.

Other leaders, including Hon. Joshua Ogunduyilemi, Chairman of Ondo East LGA, and Hon. Adebayo Jimoh, Chairman of Ondo North East LCDA, praised Oladiji’s leadership style and emphasized the importance of unity within the APC. They stressed that party cohesion would be crucial to achieving victory in the 2027 polls and sustaining development efforts already underway.

They appealed to party members and grassroots supporters to put aside personal differences and work collectively for a successful campaign that would secure the federal constituency seat for the party.

In his response, Speaker Oladiji thanked the leaders for their support and described the corruption allegation as “pure politics,” insisting that his integrity remained intact. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and promised to continue championing development under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s OUR EASE agenda.

“This is a defining period for Ondo East and West. Like former Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, I intend to uphold the honour of our constituency and ensure our people remain proud of their representation,” he said.
