OSOPADEC Chairman Pledges Grassroots-Focused Governance, Improved Welfare on Resumption at Igbokoda

10th January, 2026
‎A renewed commitment to grassroots engagement, efficient service delivery and improved staff welfare has been reiterated by the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, following his resumption of duties at the Commission’s Area Office in Igbokoda.
‎Speaking after assuming duties, Prince Poroye said the Igbokoda Area Office remains a strategic hub designed to decentralise administration, enhance project monitoring and bring governance closer to the people of OSOPADEC mandate areas. He noted that consistent leadership presence is essential for effective supervision of projects and responsiveness to stakeholders’ needs.
‎According to him, spending quality time at the Area Office will make the Commission more accessible to host communities and strengthen institutional performance.
‎“I will continue to be here regularly so that our people can reach us more easily. Many of our projects require close monitoring, and leadership availability is critical. This is why I am determined to listen to our people and respond to their yearnings,” Poroye said.
‎He described his resumption as part of a deliberate strategy to deepen grassroots connection, secure community buy-in and ensure that development projects receive adequate attention across the mandate areas. He assured residents that OSOPADEC remains steadfast in delivering on its responsibilities.
‎The OSOPADEC Chairman further disclosed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had given a clear directive for the Commission to commence work in earnest, with a strong emphasis on meeting the expectations of the people.
‎“The Governor’s marching order is clear, and we are committed to working tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in us,” he added.
‎While addressing staff of the Area Office, Prince Poroye emphasised professionalism, discipline, proactiveness and respect for constituted authority. He announced plans to roll out enhanced welfare packages and capacity-building initiatives, revealing that Area Office staff, teachers and health workers would be the first beneficiaries of training programmes and workshops this year.
‎He also revealed plans to introduce electronic identity cards for staff, aimed at improving punctuality, regularity and overall operational efficiency.
‎During the visit, the Chairman met with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party Membership E-registration team, led by Comrade Gbenga Ayemobuwa. He commended their dedication and assured them of OSOPADEC’s support to ensure the success of the exercise.
‎The Chairman was accompanied by Rev. Dr. Ola Judah, Member of the OSOPADEC Board; Hon. Mrs. Toyin Agbeni-Ogungbure, former Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Council; Pst. Keneth; Ap. ’Sola Orisamoluwa, Director of Administration and Supplies; Engr. Dare Oretan, Area Office Manager; aides to the Chairman; and other top management staff.
