MEGA TREASURE ESTATE HOLDS NEW YEAR GET-TOGETHER, HONOURS YOUTH MINISTER, CONDUCTS FREE HEALTH CHECKS
Residents of Mega Treasure Estate, Alagbaka Extension, Akure, on Sunday, January 25, 2026, held their New Year Get-Together, committing landlords, landladies and residents to God for safety, peace and prosperity in the year ahead.
The event featured prayer sessions led by Pastor Adams Mammud of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Gloryland Parish, Mega Treasure Estate, and Alhaji Abdulateef Oluborode, Chief Imam of the Alagbaka Mosque.
As part of activities marking the occasion, free health checks were conducted for residents, a programme solely sponsored by Dr. Stephen Fagbemi, Director of Public Health at the Ondo State Ministry of Health.
The community also honoured the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayò Wisdom Olawande, alongside other distinguished individuals, in recognition of their contributions to community development and welfare.
While presenting the awards, the Chairman of Ologunmolare/Arijoodi First Avenue, Alhaji Musa Haruna, said the awardees had, through various community-driven initiatives, enhanced security, safety and general well-being within the estate.
He specifically commended Hon. Olawande for facilitating employment opportunities and the installation of solar-powered streetlights, which he said had significantly improved living conditions in the area. The Minister was consequently honoured with the Community Light Bearer Award for the Year 2025.
Other award recipients included Dr. Olasehinde Akande, a United States-based medical doctor, and his wife, who received the Community Development Advocate Award for their sustained commitment to community growth. Chief Celestine Oluwaseun Ebijimi, CEO of Onireason Farms Enterprises Ltd, was conferred with the Community Widows’ Comforter Award for his support for widows within the estate, while Dr. Stephen Fagbemi received the Most Responsive Landlord of the Year 2025 Award for his prompt contributions to community projects.
Addressing residents and guests, the General Chairman of Mega Treasure Estate, Hon. Leye Igbabo, expressed appreciation to the awardees and urged landlords and residents to continue working together to sustain a safe, secure and conducive environment.
Hon. Igbabo also used the occasion to appeal to the Ondo State Government to consider policies and programmes that would increase the availability of affordable housing within Akure and other parts of the state capital. According to him, the rising cost of accommodation has continued to place pressure on residents, a situation he attributed to growing demand and limited supply, as well as the increasing cost of building materials.
He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government, private developers and communities to address housing challenges and improve the quality of life of residents.
The event ended on a note of unity and renewed commitment by residents to community development, mutual support and peaceful coexistence in the New Year.
