
Ondo State Police Command Restores Order After Disturbance at APC Secretariat in Akure
Akure, Nigeria — February 17, 2026
Calm has been restored at the Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure following a public disturbance that prompted a swift security response on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, a distress call was received at about 1:20 p.m. regarding unrest at the APC Secretariat located along Ilesha Garage in Akure. Officers were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the situation.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, alongside the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Oluyemi Ibiloye, led a joint team of security personnel to the location. Their intervention successfully dispersed the crowd and restored order.
While addressing those gathered, the Police Commissioner appealed for calm and urged residents and party supporters to avoid actions capable of breaching public peace.
During the disturbance, a male individual identified as Friday Ogbaide reportedly fell from the party building. He was promptly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
To prevent any further breakdown of law and order, tactical teams have been deployed to secure the area and surrounding neighborhoods. The Command reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Residents have been advised to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear, as security agencies maintain heightened presence in the area.
