PFN Chairman Highlights Eight-Year Impact, Emphasises Unity and Reform

The Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Ondo State, Bishop Joshua Kolawele Opayinka, has highlighted major reforms and achievements recorded during his eight-year tenure, attributing the progress to a deliberate focus on unity, relationship-building, and spiritual renewal within the body of Christ.
Speaking during an appreciation address, the cleric expressed gratitude to attendees who chose to hear directly from him despite various accounts circulating about his ministry, noting that their presence reflected commitment and sincerity.
Opayinka, who also serves as the Presiding Bishop of Glorious Tabernacle International, disclosed that his tenure, which began in 2018, will formally end in June after two terms of four years each. He explained that his decision to continue beyond the initial term was based on calls from the Christian community following notable progress recorded in his first four years.
He said his administration prioritised strengthening relationships among pastors, transforming the PFN into a more united and supportive body. According to him, the initiative fostered deeper personal connections beyond formal gatherings, encouraging collaboration and mutual support among members.
The PFN chairman noted that structured programmes such as the annual conference and yearly family gathering were introduced to enhance unity, spiritual growth, and strategic planning across the state’s 18 local government areas.
He further revealed that the fellowship expanded its engagement beyond the church by building relationships with government and other sectors, including agriculture and education. Through initiatives like the Pastors in Farming Association, he said members were encouraged to embrace agriculture for economic empowerment and food security, particularly during challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
On organisational development, Opayinka stated that PFN was restructured into ward, local government, zonal, and state levels to improve coordination, communication, and leadership development, enabling members to grow through defined ranks.
Spiritually, he said efforts were made to restore discipline and integrity within the fellowship, addressing practices that previously affected the image of the ministry and rebuilding trust among members.
The cleric also disclosed that the PFN acquired about 14 acres of land in strategic locations, with ongoing plans to develop a state secretariat.
Addressing security concerns, he said the church has taken proactive steps by encouraging congregations to strengthen internal security systems and train members to be vigilant, thereby complementing government efforts in tackling insecurity.
Opayinka expressed optimism that the foundation laid during his tenure would sustain the growth and unity of the PFN in Ondo State beyond his administration.
