SGN Celebrates BTO with Charity Visit to Orphanage, Donates Food Items
2nd May, 2026
The Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) marked the birthday of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO) with a humanitarian outreach to a motherless home, choosing charity over elaborate celebrations.
The initiative, driven by members of the network, focused on supporting vulnerable children through both material donations and personal engagement. During the visit, SGN presented essential food items, including bags of rice and cartons of noodles, to aid the welfare of the children.
Beyond the donations, the event was characterized by lively interactions, storytelling sessions, and shared moments of joy between SGN members and the children. A touching highlight of the visit saw the children singing in honour of BTO and offering prayers for him, creating an emotional atmosphere.
Speaking during the outreach, the Director General of SGN, Hon. Dayo Awude, said the gesture reflects the values and ideals associated with the celebrant.
According to him, the outreach underscores a commitment to compassion and grassroots impact, noting that the network remains focused on initiatives that uplift communities and inspire hope among the less privileged.
Caregivers at the home praised the visit, describing it as both materially supportive and emotionally uplifting for the children, while also encouraging staff.
Observers say the initiative reinforces the importance of channeling celebrations into acts of service, promoting empathy, generosity, and community development.
