APC Concludes Peaceful, Transparent House of Reps Primaries in Ondo State

By Olusegun HOSEA

Akure, Ondo State – May 18, 2026 – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has successfully concluded its House of Representatives primary elections across the nine federal constituencies, in a process described as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the party’s growing internal democracy.
The announcement came during a press briefing by Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, Chairman of the APC 2026 National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Ondo State. The committee, appointed by the party’s National Working Committee, commended party members and stakeholders for their discipline, maturity, and adherence to the rules of the election.
“The seamless conduct of these primaries underscores our collective commitment to strengthening internal democracy and unity within our great party,” Dabibi said. “We approached this assignment with impartiality and a sense of duty to ensure every member’s voice was heard.”
The results, collated and announced by authorized Returning Officers between May 16 and early May 17, 2026, produced winners in all nine federal constituencies. Key outcomes include:
Akoko North East/North West: Ifeoluwa Ehindero – 22,304 votes
Ondo West/Ondo East: Dr. Abiola Peter Makinde – 10,847 votes
Okitipupa/Irele: Dr. Damamola Olumuyiwa – 6,547 votes
Akure North/South: Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji Ohwovoriole – 9,237 votes
Akoko South East/South West: Hon. Adefarati Gboyega – 1,865 votes (second highest valid votes after disqualification of top candidate)
Owo/Ose: Engr. Kayode Ijalana – 7,098 votes (second highest valid votes)
Idanre/Ifedore: Rasaq Obe – 4,988 votes (second highest valid votes)
Odigbo/Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo: Hon. Matthew Oyerimade – 12,744 votes
Ilaje/Ese-Odo: Akingboye Akinleke David – 9,284 votes
Dabibi used the occasion to appeal for party unity, urging all members to put aside differences and focus on the 2027 general elections, including delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Assembly candidates at the polls.
“The primaries may generate varied interests, but we must never allow internal divisions to weaken our progress,” he emphasized.
The exercise, conducted under the guidelines of the 2026 Electoral Act and APC constitution, has drawn commendations from party leaders for its orderly, credible, and transparent process.
Signed:
Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi
Chairman, Ondo State APC 2026 National Assembly Primary Election Committee
