Aroge Family Boosts Medical Training at OAUSTECH with ₦5m Equipment Donation
The School of Allied Health Sciences at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, has received a major boost following the donation of medical equipment worth over ₦5 million by a lecturer in the School of Management Sciences, Dr. Israel Olabode Aroge, his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Grace Aroge, and their family.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the university during a brief ceremony held at the School of Management Sciences Building on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Peter Okunniga, described the gesture as timely and highly commendable.
Okunniga said the equipment would significantly enhance practical learning and improve students’ understanding of medical concepts through hands-on training. He expressed appreciation to the Aroge family for their generosity and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon them.
The Registrar also appealed to other well-meaning individuals and organisations within and outside Nigeria to support the institution through donations of equipment, hostels, lecture theatres, computers, laptops, textbooks and other educational facilities.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Akinyehun Olubanjo, described the donation as life-saving and heartwarming. He noted that wider availability of similar equipment in hospitals and clinics across the country would help reduce mortality rates, particularly during accidents and medical emergencies.
Olubanjo commended Dr. Aroge and his family for their philanthropic gesture, describing them as worthy of emulation, while assuring them that the School of Allied Health Sciences deeply appreciated the support.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Coordinator of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Foluke Mesarawon, thanked the donors, saying the equipment would strengthen practical training for students and improve their professional competence.
Earlier, while presenting the equipment, Dr. Aroge described the donation as a modest contribution aimed at enhancing practical training, building capacity, complementing existing facilities and supporting the growth of the School of Allied Health Sciences and the university as a whole.
He urged individuals to contribute to the development of society, saying, “We came into this world with nothing and shall leave with nothing,” stressing the importance of giving back to humanity while alive.
Items donated include suctioning machines, nebuliser machines, sphygmomanometers, stethoscopes, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines, CPAP/BiPAP machines, CPAP/BiPAP hoses, ResMed S8 Elite CPAP/BiPAP devices, Voldyne 2500 spirometers, anatomical models, aprons, Mackintosh sheets, cohesive bandages, nasal catheters, syringes and needles, ear syringes, catheters, theatre tapes and drapes, as well as a multimedia projector, among other medical equipment.
The event was attended by members of staff of the School of Management Sciences and the School of Allied Health Sciences.
